Dear Pastor and Church,

Thank you for your faithfulness in prayer and support.

Lu 2:49  And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father’s business?

Jesus spoke these words when He was only 12 years of age.  What an example for us!  To understand that our life needs to be about our Father’s business.  We have many in the ministry today that are looking for the 40 hour week and the pay check and the cushy job.  Oh!  How America needs Preachers and Laymen to understand that we need to be about the Father’s business.

God has blessed us this summer.  We have been able to lead 4 people to Christ in the past month and one of those was my precious granddaughter, Grace Age 5.  Another was a precious lady named Ghelsy.  Please pray for her.  She cares for a 20 year old son who was in an automobile accident when he was 7 years old.  He is bed bound and needs 24 hour care.  Though they have daily nursing assistance the majority of the care lies with Ghelsy.  She trusted Jesus as her Saviour and we have been able to start some home Bible studies with her.  She is so hungry for the truth.  She is reading her Bible and WOW  what incredible questions she has when we meet for Bible study.

Please pray for my wife and me?  We have some traveling to do in August and then I will leave out the 15 of September for about 7 weeks.  My schedule is full and I am excited about the Faith Promise Missions Conferences that we will preach this fall.  Please pray that all of the churches will go forward in their giving and more missionaries will be able to get to the field?  I will be assisting a church in Dewey, AZ during much of August.  This church needs a pastor and they are seeking wisely God’s will for the right man.  Please pray that this is not another church that closes its doors for lack of a Man of God to be the pastor. Please also pray for the new church plant near El Centro, CA this coming September. We will begin knocking doors right around the first of September.  So much work and so much business for our Father.  Please pray for strength, safety, and for souls to be won in all the Work in front of us?

We love you and look forward to seeing many of you this fall.

What an incredible Spring God gave us in our travles.  We were able to be in 8 churches and  God blessed with 62 people getting saved and 10 Baptized.  We saw people saved in every church and the Faith Promise went forward in several of the churches.  We traveled over 8000 miles and had only one problem with the Motor home.  It Tennesse we had two tires blow out at the same time.  We had to have them replaced along side of the Interstate.  When we got to WV we found that all of the tires were bad and had to be replaced.  We also had to have the motorhome aligned.  With all said and done it was right at $1500.00 for all of the tires and work.  I put a note about it in my last prayer letter.  Before the prayer letter was even sent out someone at the Landmark Baptist Church in Waynesburg, PA gave the pastor an envelope with 1500.00 dollars to give to me.  There is no way the person could have known about my need at that time.  Praise the Lord!!!  God is always on time and has the answers and the ability to meet our needs.

We are planing three Summer nights of Revival at Liberty Baptist Church in Yuma.  Please pray for these services that we can have a great summer at the church in Yuma.

Please also be praying for Jordan Green who will be starting a church this coming fall.  We are going to do all we can to help this fine family in their church plant.

Pray for my brother Fred Elwell.  His wife Elaine went to Heaven this past Sunday.  They were married 52 years.

God bless you as you continue in the Blessed work of our Lord.

January 2017

What a great year God gave us at Liberty.  We finished the year strong on Christmas day with 41 in attendance.  We had 6 first time visitors and a great spirit.  It is hard to believe that churches would alter their service schedule to accomodate people.  Our services were the same old schedule and I believe God honored us.

We started the New Year with great services and already in the month of January we have had Baptisms and several folks that have received Jesus as their Saviour.  What a privelege it was to lead a young Marine to the Lord this past week.  He did not have a Bible of his own so I took him one on the following Saturday.  He was not at home but his Fiance was there.  I did not have my New Testament on me so I had to take the new Bible and lead this young lady to the Lord with it.  God is always prepared even when we are not.  Praise the Lord!

We are getting ready for our second Faith Promise Missions Conference.  Dr. Darrel Moore will be our Conference Speaker.  We have two Missionary families that will be with us for the conference.  This past year our folks Committed just over $11,000.00 to missions.  This was our first year as a church.  The Faith Promise came in just over $11,000.00.  God is so good!!!

Please pray for us?  We have some folks who will be getting Baptized on February 5.  We are excited to see so many that have gotten saved recently and the growth that is taking place in their lives. We are not even out of January yet and already the Lord has blessed us with 14 first time visitors.

Come and be a part of what God is doing in our church.

Dear Pastor and Church,

What an exciting summer we have had here in Yuma, AZ.  God has blessed us with three new families that have started attending the Liberty Baptist Church.  We were also able to have our very first Back Yard Bible club.  Twenty Seven were in attendance and we had three new families bring their children to this three day event.

We are continuing to see many people saved.  This past week I traveled to Texas for two meetings.  On the way home I stopped to get a bite to eat.  Standing outside of the restaurant were two teenage boys.  In passing I asked them if they knew they were going to Heaven.  One of the young men said, I would not even know how to get there.  That prompted me into being able to witness to them and both of them trusted Jesus Christ as their Saviour!  Praise the Lord for His leading!

We are excited about the upcoming fall.  I will be traveling from September 9 until Thanksgiving.  We are going to get to work in a new Church plant in Hastings, MI.  If you could take up a special offering for this work it would be a blessing.  The Pastor is Br. Pete Petersen and funds can be sent to his sending church, Battle Creek Baptist Temple 3186 W. Michigan Ave. Battle Creek, MI 49037.  The pastor there is Brother Lyle Dye.  We will then be preaching in many Missions Conferences throughout the fall.  Please pray for safety and provision for this ministry.

May God continue to bless you in His work?

Dear Friends,

God is certainly blessing the Liberty Baptist Church here in Yuma, AZ.  God has added three new families over the past three months.  Liberty had its Charter Service the 8th of May.  The Church is now in full operation receiving members.  I have been home for about three weeks and the rest has been wonderful.  If you can call pastoring a church restful?

I will be traveling much of the month of June and I have one meeting scheduled in July and then my fall trip begins in September.  We are looking forward to helping Brother Pete Petersen with the church plant in Hastings. MI.  This is the Son in law and daughter of Pastor Lyle Dye in Battle Creek, MI.  If you could help in the way of support for this new work it would be a blessing.  Funds can be sent to Battle Creek Baptist Temple 3186 W. Michigan Ave. Battle Creek, MI 49037.  We are excited about this young couple that has prepared and is now ready to set out to plant a new church.  Please pray for this work and for the Petersen family.

I want to say that it would be impossible for me to do the work that God has called me to without the help of churches that support us in the ministry.  We thank God for you.  It would also be impossible to help others start churches if it were not for God sending us the Thomas McConkey family to be our Associate pastor here in Yuma.  They are such a great family and hard workers in the ministry of and for our Lord.  I want to thank the many churches that are helping to support this family in this work.

This summer we are planing a Back Yard Bible Club.  Please pray that we will be able to reach some young people with the gospel of our Lord.  Please pray for God to continue to send new folks into our church that we may grow to God's glory and train more to be Soul Winners and Witnesses for our Lord.

Jesus only gives us one Prayer Request in the New Testament.

Mt 9:38  Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.

Will you pray with us that God will raise up Labourers for the harvest in Yuma and around the world?

This is the January /February update sent from the McConkey's:

Dear Friend,
On January 7, 2016 we officially moved to Yuma, Arizona. The trip to Arizona was filled with laughter and tears, but most of all; it was full of anticipation for what God would have for us next. We were able to visit with almost all of Lara’s family as we made the trek westward.

We were met in Phoenix by a wonderful group of men from Valley Baptist Church of Mesa, AZ who helped us unload our Pods into a moving truck and trailer. We then made the three-hour drive to Yuma. We unloaded the next day with more help from the folks from VBC and some of our church folks at Liberty. Having a lot of hands for the move not only made the time fly by, but also allowed the load to be easy on folk’s backs! What a blessing.

More and more, I have had the thought that it is amazing that our God WANTS to use us for His work. It is our desire to serve and obey Him, and what a privilege it is to be in Yuma for that opportunity. Our time witnessing and door knocking has already been very good. God has allowed us to see 8 adults come to Christ and visitors in church nearly every Sunday. We are very mindful of the job that God has given us, not only to present the gospel, but also to allow an opportunity to grow in their faith by being a part of the church. One such family we met is a Marine family from the Northeast. After the wife received Christ as her Saviour, she expressed interest in getting into church and especially getting her children in church as well. Please pray that those who have accepted Christ will come to church and get grounded in the things of God.

Several of you have personally contacted me and asked how you can help with the work in Yuma. The Lord has been gracious to us! Three churches have taken us on for monthly support. Praise God! Our biggest need is that the church would be able to fully support us. Please pray with us regarding this matter. Two other needs would be purchasing letterhead/envelopes and the purchasing of Sunday school material for our “King’s Kids” program. All support and love offerings should be addressed to: Liberty Baptist Church 7874 E. 24th St. Yuma, AZ 85365. We are so grateful for the prayers and the support of those that have been our friends for many years.

Prayer Requests

Our first Missions Sunday – February 21st

Knocking 3,000 doors in preparation for our Open House Weekend March 12 -13th

Our “King’s Kids” children’s program beginning February 28th

That the Holy Spirit would prepare the hearts of the folks we come in contact with while out door knocking

God would continue to sustain the McConkey family in faith & in finances

Beginning the next phase of the journey

February 20, 2016

We are having a great year at Liberty Baptist Church.  We had 11 first time visitors visit our church in January and already in February we have had several more.

God has allowed us to see at least 7 people come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ this month.  God is so good.  The McConkey family is settled in and already have had people come to visit the church as well as seeing people saved.

I have just returned from a Missions Conference in Winnemucca, Nevada.  Pastor Doug Mondt and his dear wife are precious servants of the Lord.  The church has some of the finest Christians anywhere in the world.  We preached a Stewardship Conference as well as speaking at their Sweetheart banquet.  Sunday morning a young man received Christ as His Saviour.  The church started a Sweetheart couples class and they had a good crowd to start this new class.  They have also recently started a Spanish ministry.  What a joy to see this church reaching my home town!!!  Praise the Lord!

Please pray for Liberty Baptist Church.  This next week, February 20-21, we are having our very first Faith Promise Missions Conference.  Already our church is supporting three Missionaries. We are wanting to increase our vision in reaching the world.  Missionary Marty Stalnaker, a missionary to Nicaragua will be with us to share his burden and ministry.  Br. Stalnaker was an assitant pastor in California for 4 years and then was the senior pastor in Selma, CA. for 11 years.  During those years I had the opportunity to work with him in starting several churches in the Central Valley of CA.  For the past 5 years Br. Stalnaker has been a missionary staring churches and training pastors in Nicaragua.  He is a powerful speaker and has a wonderful family.

Saturday, March 12 and Sunday, March 13 we will be hosting an open house at Liberty Baptist Church.  All are invited to come.  It is a come and go event and we will have a drawing every hour Saturday and Sunday afternoon.  You just need to come and register for the drawings.  There will be gifts for everybody and you will have the opportunity to meet our staff and some of our folks.  There will be cookies and coffee and punch for everyone.

Sermon Outline to build our lives:

Acts 1:8  But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

Eph. 1:10  That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:
11  In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:
12  That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.
13  In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
14  Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

We know that we are filled and sealed by the Holy Spirit of God when we trust Jesus Christ as our Saviour.  So we have the power from the Holy Spirit of God to reach the world with the gospel of Jesus Christ.

I.  We are the People.

II. The world is the Place.

III. God has the Power.

Wow! We are off to a great new year.  Just recently I had the opportunity to lead a young Marine Sargent to the Lord.  Please pray that he and his wife will come to church.  This past Sunday we had 7 first time visitors, Praise the Lord.

We want to welcome the Thomas McConkey family to our staff.  Brother McConkey has 12 years of full time Christian Service.  He is a capable preacher and loves people.  His passion is to help build a solid Bible Believing Church in the Yuma area.  What a brth of fresh air he and his wife and children.

We are looking forward to our very first Faith Promise Missions Conference.  This event will help us to fulfill the Acts 1:8 command of our Lord to be Witnesses both in Jerusalem and to the utter most part of the world.

If you would like to support Brother McConkey and His family, please send support to Liberty Baptist Church, 7875 East 24th Street  Yuma, AZ 85365  C/O Thomas McConkey.

Dear Pastor and Church,

America is in great trouble.  We are a sinking ship and we have nobody to blame but ourselves.  We who are God’s people are more interested in what is on TV than what God has to say in our Bible.  We are more interested in who is running for president than we are in what God says in His Word.  The Supreme Court of our land has hijacked the making of law instead of interpreting law.  They may be the supreme court of our land but they are not the supreme being of the universe.  Thank God that no matter what our country says, marriage is still Biblical and is still one man one woman for life!

Paul said in Galatians 1:6 I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:
What pulls us away from Truth?

Those that Trouble us.

  • 7  Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.
  • 8  But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

Those that Trumpet Themselves.

  • 9  As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.
  • 10 For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.
  • 11  But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man.
  • 12  For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.
  • We are not to be men pleasers but Jesus pleasers.  When we are in the pulpit we have no friend but Jesus and we are to please Him!

3) Those that are trapped in Traditions.

  • 13  For ye have heard of my conversation in time past in the Jews’ religion, how that beyond measure I persecuted the church of God, and wasted it:
  • 14  And profited in the Jews’ religion above many my equals in mine own nation, being more exceedingly zealous of the traditions of my fathers.

God is certainly blessing the Liberty Baptist Church in Yuma.  We have not had to raise any outside support and all of our bills are paid and we have several thousands of dollars in the bank. Thank you for your prayers.  Please pray that more churches will be started in America and more people will be reached for Jesus.

Thank you for your faithful support God has allowed us to see many people saved this summer and the new church in Yuma is still seeing first time visitors almost every week.  I believe we have had well over 80 new people through our doors in the past 5 months.  Praise the Lord!!!

Keep looking up, Jesus is always looking down!

believe in my heart.  He Prayed and asked Jesus to come into His heart and thanked me for telling him and showing him in the Bible that He needed to trust Jesus in His heart!!!

He came to church on Sunday and walked the aisle to let everyone know that He now has Jesus not just in his head but in his heart.
Isn't God good?  Thank God for a faithful wife that would let the Holy Spirit use her to be concerned for souls!

Please continue to pray about our finances?  We are trying to reduce our expenses every way possible.

What a joy to be at home for the past three weeks.  Crystal and I have had a house full of company over the past two weeks.

God has been so good to us.  I have been able to lead four people to the Lord over the past two weeks.  One is Brother Bob.  Bob and his wife have been coming to the church here in Yuma for about three years.  Crystal brought it to my attention that she did not have peace about his salvation.  He had given a testimony in church that he had gotten baptized and believed he was going to Heaven because of that.  He is 93 years old.  This past Saturday, Crystal wanted us to go by their home and for me to witness to Bob.  Sure enough, he had never trusted Jesus in his heart.  He said to me, I thought it was just enough to know about Jesus in my head, I never saw that I needed to trust Him and
